I'm using KMPlayer v2.9.3.1214 not the beta one - yet.
I'm in agreement with the other commenters here in that I've found it to be really fast, smooth and responsive.
I've not had any problems with it consuming high amounts of CPU. It's runs perfectly even on my very old but trusty Sony Vaio with only a Mobile Intel Celeron II, 600 MHz & 512 MB of RAM.
I've also been able to turn it into a portable standalone version. That's always a big plus for me :)
Definitely recommended :)

Are there better players then KMPlayer. It's hard to find. I'm sure you don't find a better one. Why not a rating of a 5 but 4. After all these updates there is still not a possibility during installing to make it your default player. The disappointment is that you cannot still to make KMPlayer as your default player. To wipe the other players that's a way to far.

The Koreans produce great players, it appears. The first one I came across was GOM and what a pleasant surprise. It's now my No 1 player, above MPC and VLC. Then I found this one which seems equally great, hard to choose which one of the two I like more. Anyone not 100% happy with their present players should give those two a try and may find they'll never go back.

I was looking for a suitable player for DVDs on my pc on which for some reason only MPC was working at a level i found suitable but lacking features/options. after a few hours i came upon this player and i was blown away!
Simply put this player does it all and does it well. Not only did it provide great DVD playback bu also plays other files better than VLC and MPC.
My PC is almost over 7 years old and on my PC it actually uses less memory than MPC.
Do yourself a favor and check this player out.

Cpu usage depends on how the player works.
Try to turn off KMP video transform filter (alt+f).

This player is excellent. Great interface, easy configuration of interal and external filters. The media info feature is very useful when examining file attributes, much like when one parses a file through GSpot.
Video storyboarding is fantastic and fast.
What I like most about KMPlayer is its playback on H.264 when combined with CoreAVC H.264 decoder. Before KMPlayer, MPC+CoreAVC has been my default combo and tends to lag, I don't know why but KMPlayer seems to play to them smoothly. I think in general KMPlayer plays videos better than MPC+filters. I'm not certain on that. But the reason why I gave a 4/5 rating is because of the CPU usage, which is generally higher than MPC. I would give it a 5 if it performs nicely with low resource usage.

Yeah KMPlayer is awesome! I was experiencing this problem with Vista and MPC where after a while frames would be dropped and you could only stop it by pausing the video so i decided to try VLC and KMPlayer. KMPlayer seems to have fixed it and it's got heaps of cool features too!

The best directshow player you can find. Still under heavy development. Plays even FLV. Has nearly everything a video player can have. Try KMP and you never look back.

K Media player is great all around player. Excellent default interface. The built in codecs have worked for pretty much anything ive tried them with, but i like the fact that you can have your systems codecs take priority.
One of the most innovative feature is the TV-Out dialog. you can make a semi transparent file browser that will display full screen with the overlay (and other tv out modes). i have it mapped to my ati remote and it is sick.

I was a bit skeptical when I came across this, but divx and xvid both failed me, so I gave it a shot. It's good looking, and plays alot of uncommon video formats. I really like it ^_^

This is a superb player. All media file types are supported either internally or externally. Options for processing audio and video on the fly are endless. You can process and record audio and video as its played with the inbuilt capture options. Other novel features such as "seamless playback", support for external plugins, and a growing selection of skins make this by far the best all-round media player available, and it is FREE.
