Install "Rad Game Tools Splitter" and you can play bink and smacker files.

VBR means variable bitrate. The properties tab will show the average.

Report your FLV problem on the Codec Guide forum with a sample. Or submit it to the MPC-HC developers.

There are no developers present here on the free-codecs.com website. Please report your problems directly to the appropriate developers.

Select ffdshow as decoder for H.264 video and the thumbnails should work.

Keep in mind that those that are distributed with K-lite are beta versions.

MPCH is by far one of the best players, and is mine by choice. Yet I have had issues with versions released with K-lite.

Highly recommend using only the version from the official sourceforge site to reduce issues.

Ok, i've got it...
I was loading the avi files from an iso/image file with low capacity on that drive.

When i copied the avi file to another drive and played the k-lite player it worked well...

I have a problem playing certain avi files...
The videos play halfway and stop or the audio plays while the video stays still.

You are NOT using the latest version. You are using 4.1.6, which is very old.

Hey everyone I was hoping I could get an answer to this Q: Does this codec pack allow you to compress videos in Windows Movie Maker for Vista??(MP4) THX!!

Have been using for years. Great Package!!
I found a problem in the recent versions up to current with getting an error "Incorrect BASS.DLL version (2.3 is required)" when playing *.aac files only (playback is OK once you dismiss the error message).
The library for bass_flac.dll is version 2.3 and needs to be updated to 2.4 to work with aac files.

Copy to : C:\Program Files\K-Lite Codec Pack\filters
Delete old : bass_flac.dll
Rename : bassflac.dll to bass_flac.dll

I've been using K-Lite Mega Codec Pack for a couple of years and I couldn't be more satisfied.

Working great. Vista 64bit Phenom 9500 4core. No issues on full screen on any player.

- Check if you haven't accidentally enabled the MUTE button

having the same problem as John Doro,my videos aren't playing in fullscreen with media player classic.Windows media player,VLC,and WinAmp running in fullscreen with no problems.I installed older video card drivers and same thing,so I know isn't the drivers

Movies play well on my Win 7 but these past 2 days, I am unable to get any sound out of the MPC - Home Cinema v1.3.1333.0. I have even tried playing mp3 using the MPC. All other audio functions & progs is running fine. Anybody else face this problem? Thanks.

You don't need the DivX codec. Thumbnails work fine with ffdshow, which is what the codec pack uses by default.

I just found out that my problem was not caused by xvid codec in the package. It turn out to be DivX codec (maybe), when windows explorer try to preview avi files that contain DivX video in it. There is a 3 way to avoid the explorer.exe error that I found on the net.

1.regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll - avi file no longer have a thumbnails.
2.HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\SystemFileAssociations\\.avi\\shellex\\PropertyHandler - Delete the "Default" value. (Backup first) - avi file have a thumbnail but disable summary in the properties. (You can use mediainfo)
3.Download and install DivX Free 5.2.1 - avi file have thumbnails and summary like normal.

Honestly, I don't like all that solution. I like my avi file to have a thumbnail preview and summary. But I don't like to have to download another codec package that have the same codec file just to solve one problem.

I hope in the next release K-lite Mega have the solution like in the DivX Free 5.2.1. K-lite Mega is my one and only choice. I don't want to use other.

Your problem can be solved by removing the Xvid codec that is (improperly) installed on your computer.

Once upon a time, I was using 5.2.0 and always getting explorer.exe error when opening folder that contains video files. even though I'm not using Thumbnails view setting. Then I tried uninstalling 5.2.0 and I get "xvidcore.dll not found" error when try to open video folders or try to generating thumbnails for the video files, of course no thumbnails generated. Last thing I did was installing 5.4.4, and the same explorer.exe error occur. My problems never solved. THE END.

There are three solutions:
1) Use the older version of MPC (1.2.1008) that is included in the pack.
2) Select the standard EVR renderer in MPC options
3) Disable DXVA

That error was fixed in 5.4.4

the k-lite mega codec pack 5.4.0 is good, however there is a problem with media player classic...
mpc takes much time to start than its previous version......

don't know what's the reason behind......

lastly kaspersky internet security 2010 installed....(mpc is under trusted application's list)
no other program is running in background...

8 comps running K-Lite Mega and no issues. Everything from XP to Vista 64
What I am seeing with many of the problems listed is most likely the same issues.
1. Never overwrite old version.! Uninstall
2. Never have more then one Codec package.

Here really is the best way. Uninstall all other codec packages. Run a registry cleaner if you had other version then K-Lite.
Reboot and install.

Hey the latest version of KMC 5.1.0 installation gives me problems.

I have tried with few computers included my friends' (different windows included XPSP2, XPSP3, and Vista).. the installation progress is straight forward.. seems it is going to complete installation but at the end starting from vfwfilter.dll(or vswfilter.dll either one near the end), all the every single files following up are unable to install and keep pop up message boxes ask me to "retry/ignore/abort"...

Of course I click "retry" but still fail and pop up again.. As I said, if I "ignore", the files following also give me same problem.. So the only way I can do is click "abort" and let it roll back changes to my previous version 5.0.5...

I wonder why this will happen please resolve it.. Or any way to fix it by myself?

Recently I juz openned up a BDrip file, its MKV, it keep on loading for a long time, but it didn't open up.. What happened it works for some other video but not all..

I've been using K-Lite Mega codecs for quite a while and trust it. But this time when I install the latest version 4.8.0, I can't play any online audio or video files. Everytime I click on any online-play link or vod link, a dialog box appears telling me that the file cannot be opened. I can watch or listen to the same file using my other computer with K-Lite codecs version 4.7.5

Now can anybody tell me how to solve this problem? Thank you!

Yeah, i'm getting the same problem as Seginus from mkv.
But not all mkv files have has this problem.

You can solve the flickering with this setting:
MPC Options -> Subtitles -> set "Number of subpictures to buffer ahead:" to 0.

Cant play mkv files properly. im running windows 7 ultimate RC 32bit. also in some mkv's the subtitles flicker rapidly.(softsubbed)
