AC-3 ACM Codec 2.2

AC-3 ACM Codec (formerly AC-3 ACM Decompressor) is an AC3 decompressor for VirtualDub which enables you to perform Dolby Digital AC-3 decoding for Windows ACM.

Using VirtualDub, on condition that you have this codec installed to your computer, you can convert AC3 audio directly to WAV or MP3 formats.

AC-3 ACM Codec is a good addition to your system if you use AviSynth or TMPGEnc, too.

These are other ACM clients available on the market which use external codecs for compressing certain file formats.

The installation process of AC-3 ACM Codec is different from your average computer problem, but not that complicated either.

What you have to do first is to do a right-click on the "AC3ACM.inf" and select install. Ignore any warnings which tell you that the program has not passed “Windows Logo testing”.

In case you want to uninstall this tool, go to Control Panel, “Add/Remove programs” and uninstall AC-3 ACM Codec like any other application.

When you already have an older version of this software, uninstall before installing a new one.

Moreover, there are two versions, one for x86 and another for x64 systems. Another installation method is double clicking on the .bat file.

AC-3 ACM Codec offers support for six sound channels, from 20 to 20,000 Hz. It works with audio sample rates of up to 48 kHz.

AC-3 ACM Codec uses two open source libraries: liba52 and FFmpeg ac3enc.

And it solves the missing audio codec error, reported by GSpot: ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc

At a size of less than 200KB and using a very low amount of system resources, AC-3 ACM Codec is an addition you’ll barely notice but which will add value to your media experience.

Decoding Dolby Digital AC-3 formats for Windows ACM has never been simpler.
