MPV Decoder

Updated: 4 Jun 2013

MPV Decoder (aka Mpeg2DecFilter) is a filter which allows you to decode MPV files. It needs very little storage space and it consumes a low amount of system resources.
MPV is an MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 video which doesn’t contain any audio streams.

It is also known as M1V and M2V for the MPEG-2 format.

You can obtain MPV by simply renaming MPG files with the MPV extension.

On the other hand, when you will try to play them, you may encounter some errors, and this is when MPV Decoder comes in handy.

In order to install MPV Decoder, you will have to decompress the archive package and use the files from the “Release”, “Release Unicode” or “x64”/”x86” folder.
Copy DLL or AX files in folder “system32” and go to “Start\Run”, where you’ll need to type “run” in the search box.

If you are unable to install the filter, please read this small guide: How to install/uninstall DLL and AX codec files from Guides section.
