During installation, users can select which filters to deploy. While it’s possible to customize, installing all features is recommended due to the pack’s minimal resource usage. The only visible component is MatroskaDiag, a diagnostic tool for MKV files.
MKV files are highly regarded for their ability to compress a wealth of information into a single file. However, they require specialized codecs like the Matroska Pack Full or similar collections under the Matroska umbrella to play. Moreover, this codec supports other media formats, offering even more value.

Matroska Pack Lite contains only the very basic stuff needed to play matroska files with Vorbis audio and Subtitles on DirectShow players, so in order to be able to play all your files you need the right video and audio decoders installed already.
Also coming with it is the matroska muxer filter, allowing you to create matroska files from DirectShow based muxing and capturing applications, such as ATV2000 or VirtualVCR_matroska.
Matroska Pack MPEG4 is based on the full pack, but it has been removed all the the unneeded stuff for playback of a typical DivX/XviD MKV file.
