Winamp Plugin Fraunhofer IIS MP3 Surround 2.1.1

5 from 2 Reviews

Winamp Plugin Fraunhofer IIS MP3 Surround allows you to play MP3 Surround files and streams in Winamp.

The Winamp MP3 decoder didn’t support multi channel MP3 files, a new format in 2007, when this plugin was released.

The surround MP3 file was introduced by the Fraunhofer Institute and it made it possible to produce true 5.1 channel sound at a similar bitrate with stereo encoding.

This compression method is backwards compatible with ordinary MP3s.

The Winamp Plugin Fraunhofer IIS MP3 Surround comes with three decoder modes: MP3 Surround, which can be used for 5.1 output to a surround speaker system; Ensonido, which produces surround sound for your headphones and MP3 Stereo, playing simple stereo.

The Ensonido mode selection enables you to choose between four listening modes. They are slightly different and you can choose the one suiting you the best.

Winamp Plugin Fraunhofer IIS MP3 Surround offers its users several other features. The proxy options allow you to check the box to the left and insert your proxy address in the text field in order to receive Internet radio. This kind of option is necessary especially when your computer is protected by a firewall and the radio uses special ports.

By enabling title and tags, you can have access to IDE3 title information in the playlist. Streaming can be controlled as well with a prebuffer between 32 and 512 kbytes. The buffer size can be adjusted by moving a slider and bigger buffers can be used to solve network instability.

If Winamp doesn’t allow you to play MP3 surround files, this compact plugin will solve your problem in no time and help you listen to your music on a surround speaker system or using your headphones.

I absolutely love this plugin! I run XP SP2, and I was so jealous of Realtek's Virtual Room Correction because of the emphasized channels that I could've controlled. Now this does the same thing....but in XP!

Thanks so much.
