hi, can anyone tell me how to off the autoplay of mp3 files?..when i click a link to download a mp3 file(example download.mp3), instead of download it from my browser, it opened quicktime and played the song.how do i prevent this?

QT 1.63 works perfectly for me when it comes to playing MOVs in a stand-alone Window Media Player under Win XP. But it fails to produce results when playing MOVs when they've been embedded in a Powerpoint 2003 presentation as movie files. THIS IS NUMBER ONE on my personal wish list. Please contact me about this if you know how to fix this... (without embedding WMP object). Thx

Quicktime 7.0.3.25 causes firefox, mozilla
to crash or hang. Just dont play mov files.
Also, MPC dont crash but dont play either.

Latest version of QT Alt is broken. 1.63 won't play any .mov files. I tried to uninstall and go back to earlier versions, but without any luck. Looks like no more viewing of QT movies...

A bug
I found a problem or a bug for others... with QuickTime Alternative 1.63. The size cache, by default is of 100MB. But QT-Alt filled my HardDrive, it exceeds this limit of 100MB. Conclusion, often emptied the cache of QT-Alt.

i just dl'ed the latest itunes release (6) and before installing that, updated my quicktime alternative to 1.63. no go. itunes won't start even tough the options panel clearly says that the version is 7.0.3..

This is the greatest thing ever.. But now apple has released iTunes 6 and it requires Quicktime 7.0.3.. and this has 7.0.2 so iTunes wont start.. and i dont want to install that f**king apples quicktime grpahicf**k..

I am back trying to work with Alt again. As bad as it was I tried using 6 again of the real QT. All was well until it updated and then crashed every time it open (instead of refreshing the screen every 5 secs) I guess apple wanted me to buy the latest version. Then I inserted a multisession cda with mac movies and it restarted my puter. SHINE THOSE IDIOTS AT APPLE! Hopefully alt for most and those with no sound imtoo mov converter. And u know that little player is the shishnik!

Another warning: Do not attempt to uninstall this thing in safe mode - it simply won't do it. If you've uninstalled w/ ANY browser windows open, it will finish the uninstall and then tell you some components couldn't be removed (but with no hint as to what).
At this point, iTunes will be hosed.
Things started getting bad for me when iTunes brought down the latest update, as it surely includes a fresh install of QT.
You must restart. Reinstall it. Restart again. Turn off any anti-virus and close ALL browser windows - then uninstall again.
Then you should be ok. Reinstall iTunes/QT and you should be good.

It's crap. Sorry, but I'll stick w/ the QT "nag" buttons as opposed to having this thing hose my system as it did. iTunes is now hosed after the "uninstall" of QT Alternative. Tried reinstalling QT/iTunes twice, no love.
Stay away!!!!

quicktime alternative
(4/17/05 download,codec version 6.5.1.17) plays my .mov files just fine but whenever those files are copied to cd they will not play properly - some sort of corruption and the best tech I know can't figure it out - what's the fix??

I really enjoyed QT Alternative versions up to 1.48 but since the betas the MIME-settings in the QT-plugin dont work well. Even if I uncheck everything except QT-movies in QT-plugin it still insists in opening mp3-files with QT instead of IE asking me what to do with the file. I tried several hours to get the MIME-setting back but the only way is to uninstall QT-alternative. Anyone have any ideas?

Everything is perfect except when you load a panorama .mov, like a QTVR - it "plays" it instead of letting you panorama around.
If that feature can be made to work I will be very happy and install this on everyone's computers around here ;-)

Great player, but in FireFox the beta version does not allow for object files to run in the background (i.e. wav/MP3) even when plugin is correctly configured. I reverted back to 1.46 and it worked correctly

For a beta it runs very well. Only real problem I've bumped into is that the registration doesn't stick after verified to be correct.
JA: Try using the included MediaPlayerClassic player instead of WMP10.

I'm having trouble fast-forwarding or seeking through movies. I was able to seek through movies with the regular QuickTime, but after using Alternative, I can no long do this. It seems to be a problem on all my .mov files. This is a HUGE disadvantage. (I can't use the Seek-Slider, Fast-Forward, or Rewind buttons on my Windows_Media_Player [v.10])
Anyone else having this problem, and know how to fix it?

Have taken Apple Quick time off as it takes over every thing, so I thought I’d try QuickTime Alternative 1.47, sound all over the place, plus it will crash after about ten seconds!
Tried reinstalling Apple QuickTime, now that will not play too!!!
Do we have a big old bug here?
