Haali Media Splitter (aka Haali Matroska Splitter) is a DirectShow splitter which offers support for almost all Matroska elements and which allows you to play optimally MKV, MP4, OGG, AVI and MPEG TS files.
It is also suitable for multitrack, multisegment and concatenated files.
Haali Media Splitter allows you to perform advanced tasks, such as working with video files that require specific codecs, multiplexing, splitting and decoding.
It is important to know that Haali Media Splitter is not a GUI application, but this doesn’t make it less configurable or less helpful.
What Haali Media Splitter can do for you is offering subtitle support, setting the disk buffer size as you wish (the default value is 8MB and you can increase it), accelerating the thread decoding process, setting the audio and subtitle language priority following your requirements, activating and deactivating the automatic load of embedded fonts etc.
In case you encounter problems with subtitles, it is recommended to close the VSFilter (DirectVobSub), to open the splitter properties, to select the Compatibility-Autoload VSfilter and set it to “Yes”. Another potential problem is Vorbis sound and playback errors, which can be solved by upgrading to the latest CoreVorbis.
Other advanced options refer to the decoder priority which can be increased in order to accelerate the thread decoding process. Other priorities such as audio and subtitle language can also be set individually, as you need.
Haali Media Splitter will occupy a small amount of disk space on your computer while it will offer you an extensive range of options for your media files.
It is definitely worth deploying this piece of software on your computer if you are interested in performing tasks such as decoding and splitting video streams, cutting videos and converting framerates, for a variety of video formats.
