XMPEG is a powerful tool enabling you to export video and audio frames using an Adobe Premiere interface.
This converter is based on lossless MPEG and AC3 decoders.
A very high video quality is ensured by using the best algorithms (HQ Bicubic 0, 0.75) for the converter’s filters.
XMPEG allows you to convert MPEG videos to other popular formats like DivX, XviD, (S)VCD and DVD, depending on the codecs you have installed on your computer. Real-time DVD preview is also possible.
XMPEG comes accompanied by plugins which help you create your own DVDs and SVCDs at a very high quality.
The conversion job is easier due to the built-in wizard, guiding you through the process. XMPEG is accessible to all categories of users, including beginners.
After loading an input file, the user has access to audio and video options and playback controls. The seeking bar is very sensitive and you can move back and forth throughout the movie, one frame at a time.
Some basic editing options are available, too: crop, luminance, aspect, resizing output, and so on. Audio compression options include sound normalization and configuring the desired compression level.
The last version of XMPEG, 5.2 beta 2, was improved with graphical interface support and better timestamp breaks detection, besides solving some minor bugs.
This application has not been developed anymore for several years, but it still may be helpful for some users needing to convert MPEG to other video formats. You need to test XMPEG for yourself and decide if you will keep it on top of your preferences list.
