What MediaInfo actually does is allowing you to drag and drop media files into its window and show you any available information about them: title, author, director, album, track number, date, duration, codec, aspect, fps, bitrate, sample rate, channels, language, bitrate, language of subtitle, count of chapters, list etc.

MediaInfo puts at your disposal various viewing modes and you can choose between “Basic”, “Sheet”, “Text”, “HTML” and “Tree”.

The information can be exported into Excel sheets, HTML, XML or CSV files.
MediaInfo offers support for the following formats: MP3, MP4, OGG, WAV, RA, AC3, DTS, AAC, M4A, AU, MIDI, AIFF, AIFC (audio); 3GP, AVI, DivX, WMV, MKV, MP4, OGM, QuickTime, Real, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DVD (video) and SRT, SSA, ASS, SAMI (subtitles).

The installation process is fast and simple, and you just need to pay attention to unwanted additional software that MediaInfo offers to deploy on your computer.

Other warning targets Windows95, Windows98 and Windows Millennium users, who need to install Microsoft Layer for Unicode on Windows 95/98/ME Systems (MSLU) in order for MediaInfo to function on their computers.

The interface of the application is minimalistic and MediaInfo uses a moderate amount of system resources. It functions impeccably and error-free.

All things considered, MediaInfo is a useful addition on your computer if you are focused on the information about your media files; this application does it job well, considering the wide variety of formats it supports, the various viewing modes, the moderate amount of resources it uses and the comprehensive information it displays.
