AAC ACM Codec 1.9

3.67 from 3 Reviews

AAC ACM Codec provides users with an easy way of decoding AAC in VirtualDub and other ACM clients.

AAC stands for Advanced Audio Coding and it represents a lossy compression and encoding format for audio files.

It is similar to MP3, but its sound quality is superior at the same bit rates compared to an MP3. This type of file is mostly used by iPhone, iPod, iPad, Nintendo DSi, iTunes, PlayStation 3, and DivX Plus Web Player.

AAC ACM Codec makes it possible for you to play AAC streams, regardless of their source.

The application is available in two versions, for 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

If you have an older version of the codec installed to your computer, it is strongly recommended to uninstall it before adding a new one. During installation, you may be prompted by your computer that the codec has not passed “Windows Logo Testing”, in which case you need to select “Continue Anyway”.

AAC ACM Codec can only decode AAC, it is not able to encode files to this format. If you want to encode, an option is Nero AAC Codec.

The last version of the AAC ACM Codec, 1.9, was improved in various ways, such as fixed incorrect responses to ACMDM_FORMAT_DETAILS query which caused confusion, and updated .inf and .bat files.
AAC ACM Codec is a highly recommended and reliable tool for anyone needing to listen to music or to activate sound from different types of applications, which have been compressed and encoded to the AAC format.

This program is actually a wrapped Audio Compression Manager interface around the free libfaad library by M. Bakker of Nero AG.

IMPORTANT!
- Currently AAC ACM Codec can only decode AAC, it cannot encode AAC! As encoder, use Nero AAC Codec or FDK AAC Codec.

Works very well with gopro hero3 videos and virtualdub. If you use 32 bit virtualdub, install 32 bit version of this codec.
