The generic Intel driver provides users with the latest and greatest feature enhancements and bug fixes that computer manufacturers (OEMs) might not have customized yet.
Intel released build 32.0.101.8974 on 14 August 2026 as a WHQL version, and it is the newest driver available for Intel Arc and Core Ultra graphics. The installer is 872MB.

Non-WHQL or WHQL - Which One Do You Want?
WHQL means Microsoft has run the driver through its own certification lab. Non-WHQL means Intel shipped it without waiting for that stamp, usually to get a game fix out faster.
Neither one is unsafe. Both come from Intel, both are signed, and both install the same way. The practical difference is timing: Non-WHQL builds land first and carry the newest game fixes, WHQL builds land a little later with more testing behind them.
Pick 32.0.101.8864 Non-WHQL if a specific game is misbehaving right now. Pick 32.0.101.8974 WHQL if the machine is a work laptop and you would rather not gamble on a fresh build.
What 32.0.101.8974 Actually Fixes
- Crashes during shader compilation, the stutter-then-die that hits when a game builds its shader cache after an update.
- DirectX 12 crashes in Assassin's Creed Shadows, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and Rainbow Six Siege.
- Broken cutscene visuals in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on Arc A-Series and Core Ultra systems.
- Named driver support for the standard Intel Arc G3 graphics in Panther Lake laptops.
If your problem is video playback rather than gaming, a driver update is only half the story - Windows still needs the right decoder installed. The Codec Finder will tell you which one is missing, and LAV Filters or the K-Lite Codec Pack will supply it.
Which Intel Graphics Do You Have?
This build covers Intel Arc B-Series cards, Intel Arc A-Series cards, and Core Ultra processors with built-in Arc graphics. Intel keeps older Iris Xe and UHD Graphics on separate driver branches, so the newest number is not automatically the right one for an older laptop.
Two ways to check what is inside your machine: open Device Manager and expand Display adapters, or run GPU-Z, which reads the chip directly and shows the driver version currently loaded. For the processor side, CPU-Z does the same job.

System Requirements
- Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit. There is no 32-bit build of this driver.
- Intel Arc A-Series or B-Series graphics, or a Core Ultra processor with built-in Arc graphics.
- Around 2GB of free disk space. The download alone is 879MB and the installer unpacks before it runs.
- An administrator account.
Installing It Without Breaking Anything
- Grab your chosen build from the Intel Graphics Driver download page using the button above.
- Close games, video editors and anything streaming. The screen will flicker and go black once or twice during the swap, which is normal.
- Run the installer as administrator and choose the clean install option if it offers one. That clears old settings that tend to survive upgrades and cause odd behavior.
- Restart when it finishes, even if the installer says you do not have to.
- Confirm the new version in Device Manager under Display adapters, or in GPU-Z.
If an install fails partway and leaves the system in a strange state, Driver Store Explorer lets you remove the leftover driver packages Windows keeps in reserve, so the next attempt starts clean. On the games side, a stale DirectX runtime is worth ruling out before you blame the driver.
Symptoms This Update Usually Clears
- Screen flicker or brief black frames on the desktop.
- Games crashing to desktop, especially on first launch after a patch.
- Torn or blocky video during hardware-accelerated playback.
- A second monitor that refuses to wake, or resolutions that reset after sleep.
One honest caveat: if HDR or 10-bit video looks wrong specifically in one media player, the driver may not be the culprit. Who Should Look Elsewhere
Not everyone reading this needs the generic Intel package.
If your laptop maker publishes its own Intel driver, that build has been tuned for your panel and power settings. The generic one still works, but a vendor build is the safer first stop on a machine with unusual display hardware.
If your graphics chip is not Intel at all, you want NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Drivers or the AMD Radeon Adrenalin drivers instead. On an AMD system, the Ryzen chipset drivers are worth updating in the same sitting.
And if playback in Windows apps is the real complaint, the fix is usually a codec rather than a driver. The HEVC Video Extension, the OEM edition at HEVC Video Extensions from Device Manufacturer, or the AV1 Video Extension cover the formats Windows leaves out of the box.
