I installed the whole thing, now how do i get winamp to understand that i have the codecs?

Very complex-- not for everyday PC users by any means (no, I'm not an idiot). And as Ian said, the screenshots are nothing like what you get. Needless to say it didn't work for me. Maybe it works, but you gotta simplify it so it's not a failure for everyday users.
