REAPER 7.59

5 from 4 Reviews

REAPER is a complete software tool for recording, arranging, editing and playing audios, and it also supports batch conversion.

If you produce music, record podcasts, or design sound for video projects, REAPER provides the flexibility and power to handle demanding workflows without the bloated footprint of traditional DAWs.

Lightweight Yet Portable

Despite its compact 15MB download size, REAPER packs features that rival software costing hundreds more.

The application launches quickly and runs efficiently on modest hardware while supporting complex projects with hundreds of tracks.

A distinctive portable installation option lets you run the complete DAW directly from a USB flash drive - ideal for producers working across multiple studios.

Professional Recording Features

REAPER excels at multitrack recording with support for virtually unlimited tracks on 64-bit systems. Record from multiple inputs simultaneously while monitoring with ultra-low latency.

The software handles any combination of sample rates, bit depths, and file formats on each track.

For optimal MP3 export quality, REAPER integrates seamlessly with the LAME MP3 Encoder, the industry-standard encoding library.

Extensive Plugin Support

Full VST, VST3, AU, and LV2 plugin compatibility opens access to thousands of effects and virtual instruments.

REAPER includes capable built-in plugins covering compression, EQ, reverb, and delay - enough to complete professional productions without third-party additions.

Audio Editing Precision

The editing environment provides surgical precision for trimming, splitting, crossfading, and time-stretching audio clips. Non-destructive editing preserves original files while unlimited undo history protects against mistakes.

For quick MP3 trimming tasks outside the DAW, mp3DirectCut offers lossless editing, while Audacity provides a simpler approach for basic audio work.

Video Integration

REAPER handles video files directly in the timeline, making it suitable for film scoring and sound design. For advanced video editing and color grading, DaVinci Resolve complements REAPER's audio capabilities perfectly.

Batch Processing and Rendering

The render queue handles multiple output formats simultaneously - create MP3 files for streaming, WAV stems for collaboration, and FLAC archives in a single operation.

For dedicated batch conversion, XMedia Recode provides an efficient alternative.

Need a quick format conversion without installing software? The Online Audio Converter handles MP3, WAV, OGG, and FLAC conversions directly in your browser.

Format Support

REAPER reads and writes WAV, AIFF, MP3, OGG, FLAC, WavPack, and many more formats. Preview your rendered projects using foobar2000 for bit-perfect playback or VLC Media Player for universal format support.

Licensing and Evaluation

A generous 60-day fully functional evaluation period has no restrictions or watermarks. The discounted license costs $60 for personal use, while professional studios pay $225 - still a fraction of competing DAW prices.

REAPER runs on Windows 7 through 11, macOS (including Apple Silicon), and Linux.

For users transitioning from simpler editors like WavePad, REAPER's learning curve rewards investment with professional capabilities.

Tiny size, huge set of features not always found in heavier and very expensive software, for example, you can use MP3s (or FLACs for studio quality) instead of WAVs, which saves a lot of space when using many tracks.
