Frequently Asked Questions

No. Everything runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly (FFmpeg.wasm). Your video file is read locally and never transmitted over the internet. This makes the tool safe for private recordings, corporate content and personal videos.
MP3 is the best choice for general use - it is universally compatible and produces small files. Choose WAV or FLAC if you need lossless quality (e.g. for music production). AAC and M4A offer better quality than MP3 at the same bitrate and work well on Apple devices. OGG Vorbis is a free, open format with excellent quality.
The tool supports all major video formats including MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, WEBM, FLV, WMV, M4V, 3GP, TS and MTS. It also accepts most audio formats for format conversion (e.g. WAV to MP3, FLAC to AAC).
On your first visit the browser needs to download and compile the FFmpeg WebAssembly engine (approximately 10 MB). This is cached automatically, so subsequent uses are much faster. Processing speed also depends on the size of your video file and your device's CPU.
The tool is limited only by the available memory in your browser. Most modern browsers handle files up to several gigabytes, though very large files may be slower to process. For files over 2 GB we recommend a desktop app such as HandBrake or VLC Media Player.
Selecting Mono merges both audio channels into one, which roughly halves the file size compared to Stereo. It is useful for voice recordings, podcasts and speech where stereo separation adds no value.
