DaVinci Resolve 20.2.3 Released with WEBM/MKV VP8 Decoding

Blackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve 20.2.3, bringing highly requested decode support for WEBM and MKV clips with VP8 video codec.

This update significantly expands format compatibility for editors working with web-optimized video content.

Performance enthusiasts will appreciate the up to 4x faster processing for Magic Mask, Depth Map, and Super Scale operations on Intel GPUs, making AI-powered features more accessible than ever.

The update also includes Blackmagic Raw SDK 5.1 support and numerous workflow enhancements.

Key improvements include customizable keyboard actions for timeline keyframe tray, better workflow integration plugin persistence, and fixes for audio playback issues on Mac trackpad users.

Object masks now properly invalidate for edit and input sizing changes, ensuring more reliable tracking results.

The free version of DaVinci Resolve 20.2.3 includes unlimited resolution media handling and the same high-quality processing as the Studio version, though it limits output to Ultra HD and supports single GPU processing on Windows and Linux.

For professionals requiring multi-GPU support, 4K output, advanced AI tools, and HDR capabilities, the Studio upgrade unlocks comprehensive features.

Available now for macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Windows 10 Creators Update or newer, and Linux Rocky 8.6, the update maintains backward compatibility with DaVinci Resolve 19.1.4 project libraries, though individual projects opened in 20.2.3 cannot be reverted to earlier versions.
