The long-anticipated GIMP 3.0 release is drawing closer, with the arrival of the first Release Candidate (RC1) announced on November 6, 2024.

 

GIMP 3.0 is Coming!


The GIMP team reports that this latest build is a critical step, focusing on stability improvements, bug fixes, and feedback from developers and users.

Major changes in GIMP 3.0 will include an updated GTK3 backend, better performance and support for modern hardware.
 

Ongoing development updates and the recent RC1 launch put GIMP 3.0 on the horizon, bringing the powerful open-source image editor into its next major phase.
