The software remains free with no adware or premium features and automatically creates system restore points before updates.
Snappy Driver Installer Origin 1.16.0.818 Improves Windows 11 Support
Snappy Driver Installer Origin released version 1.16.0.818 on November 10, 2025, bringing significant improvements to Windows 11 handling.
The update changes how SDIO detects and manages drivers on Windows 11 systems.
SDIO now displays Windows 11 directly in the System Information panel when detected, removing the automatic virtual OS setting.
Users can still manually configure the virtual OS if needed. Because Windows 11 isn't directly supported in current driver packs, SDIO automatically searches for compatible Windows 10 drivers when it detects Windows 11.
This approach works seamlessly since Windows 10 drivers maintain full compatibility with Windows 11.
The release includes Sam Driver Packs 25.11.1 and disables the Show Newer option by default.
Driver list items now display available driver versions, dates, and markers for easier identification. The ForceWin10 option has been removed from this version.
Additional improvements include a new Detect OS version option in the System panel context menu, updated translations, and environment variable expansion support for script directories.
The update also adds initialization checks for the script engine and updates the list of known inf markers.
