What is an M3U file? An M3U (or M3U8) file is a plain-text playlist used by IPTV apps, media players like VLC, and smart TVs to list live stream URLs. This tool lets you fetch any public playlist URL, inspect its contents, filter channels, and re-download a cleaned-up version.

What does the M3U Finder actually do with a playlist URL?

Paste any public M3U or M3U8 playlist link and the tool fetches it, parses every #EXTINF entry into a channel name, group and stream URL, then lets you search, filter by group or stream type, and export a cleaned-up playlist or CSV.

Why is the URL fetched through your server instead of directly in my browser?

Most playlist hosts do not send the CORS headers a browser needs to read another site's response directly, so the Parse M3U URL tab always requests the playlist through proxy.php, a same-site server-side fetcher, and hands the parsed result back to your browser. Searching radio stations and uploading a file do not use this proxy at all.

Is the playlist or file I load kept on your servers?

No. proxy.php fetches the playlist, returns its raw text to your browser and stores nothing; parsing, filtering and exporting all run afterwards in your browser. A file you open in the Upload tab never leaves your device - it is read and parsed locally with the browser's File API.

What M3U tags and stream types does the parser recognize?

The parser reads standard #EXTM3U playlists and pulls the channel name plus the tvg-id, tvg-logo and group-title attributes from each #EXTINF line. Stream URLs are labelled by type - HLS (.m3u8), MPEG-TS, MP4 or RTMP - so you can filter the list by format.

Where do the radio station results come from?

The Find Radio Streams tab queries the community-run Radio Browser database directly from your browser, trying several regional mirror servers in turn so one mirror being offline does not stop your search. Results are not proxied or stored by us.

Can I play a channel or station before downloading anything?

Yes. Every row has a Play button that opens the stream in our free Web Player, so you can check a stream works before adding it to an exported playlist.

Can I export only some channels, or must I keep the whole playlist?

Search by name, then filter by group or by stream type, and Export Filtered (.m3u) saves only the entries currently shown. You can also export the same results to CSV, or copy every visible stream URL to the clipboard in one click.

Is there a limit on playlist size or how many stations I can search?

The proxy caps a fetched playlist at 8 MB and follows up to 5 redirects, which covers all but the largest public IPTV lists. Radio searches return up to 200 stations per query - narrow your search term or country filter to find results faster.
