K-Lite Codec Pack 5.4.4 Full
I have been using K-lite for years now, almost no version had a problem. I installed the latest one and now mp4 files play as audio but the video is not recognized.
What is wrong? Should i just wait for the next version?

I don't know but opening movie files are too slow with this latest version 5.3.0. It was OK when 5.2.0 was installed.

The team is very helpful because they put back the DirectVobSub/VSFilter v2.33 to the 5.3.0 pack.
The Vsfilter v2.39 crashes with the Subtitleworkshop v2 / V4. Many people don't know the reason of the crash is the Vsfilter 2.39. I try newer vsfilters 2.34---2.39, but everyone freeze the Subtitleworkshop...
So... THANKS FOR THIS, please let it be in the newer versions!

@shaun
Report your problem on the Codec Guide support forum and they will get fixed.
It is very likely your problems are caused by bad drivers. That is not something the pack is responsible for.
The K-Lite FAQ also contains very useful help. I suggest you read that as well before blaming the pack.
@Theo Double
Windows should already by default be able to generate thumbnails for MPEG files. That is why there is no option for it in the pack.

Thanks for this amazing codec pack and all the extra features! I would like to ask for something.
Can you add mpeg (especially mpeg2) in the thumbnail options? I know a lot of people that have a big collection of mpeg2 files and they can't find a way to see thumbnails in windows explorer.
Thank you

this is, simply put, the best codec pack available. I recommend installing over a fresh install of Windows XP SP2

You can find the solution for you .mov problem in the K-Lite FAQ. See here:

QT Lite + MediaLooks filter
WMV playback is done with codecs from Microsoft that come bundled with Windows. You will have to ask Microsoft for help on that.

downloaded this codec pack after having tried "Vista Codec Package 5.0.7". I am having the same problem with Klite 4.4.5 despite having installed the complete set.
While I am quite an experienced PC user (not afraid to edit registry entries, modify config files, etc.), I am not too familiar with codecs. Perhaps somebody here could help me troubleshoot the issue I am having.
I want to be able to play MOV (Quicktime) files made by my digital camera on Windows Media Player and particularly on Windows Media Center...so that I can play them on my TV through the use of my Windows Media Extender.
For some strange reason MOV files from my digital camera do not play on my Windows Vista Ultimate system unless I download and install Quicktime.
However Quicktime doesn't play within Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center, hence my interest in trying to find a code that will play MOV files within Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center.
I thought the K-Lite codec package would be able to do that, but it is not doing it in my case. Is there a particular setting that I need to choose, or do I need to modify the installation to install a particular component?
I am also having another problem (but of lesser importance since it is a unique case).
I have a wmv video that plays fine on Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center, but doesn't play on on my Windows Media Extender. Other wmv files play OK on the Windows Media Extender. Any ideas of what could be causing that?

John, this will certainly solve your problem. Be aware that you do need to use a different player, because QuickTime is not good at playing AVI files.
