VIA Vinyl Audio Codec is an audio driver designed for VIA chipset motherboards with integrated sound. It is also known as VIA AC'97 Audio Combo Driver.
VIA Vinyl Audio Codec offers support for all VIA southbridges with integrated sound, such as VT8231, VT82C686A, VT82C686B, VT8233, VT8233A, VT8233C, VT8235 and VT8237.
Other components of this codec are the VIA Six-TRAC (VT1616 Codec), the VIA Stylus driver for the Six-TRAC Codec which uses the Sensaura technology in order to achieve a superior level of audio performance, and DOS sound for VIA VT82C686A, VT82C686B and VT8231 southbridges only.
VIA Vinyl Audio Codec was developed for older operating systems (Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows Me, Windows 98SE, Windows 98, Windows 95, and DOS).
Another thing users should be aware of is that VIA audio drivers should not be installed to systems using third-party audio cards.
