IObit Uninstaller is a free Windows uninstaller that removes a program and then goes looking for whatever it left behind.

Windows has its own Apps list, and it stops at whatever the program's own uninstaller chose to delete.

IObit's version runs that same uninstaller first, then scans the disk and the registry for the remains and offers to clear those too.

What IObit Uninstaller Actually Does

The main window is a plain list of everything installed on the machine, sortable by size, by install date or by how rarely you open it. Tick as many entries as you like and remove them in a single pass, unattended.

Batch removal is the part worth noticing, because it is the feature most free uninstallers hold back for their paid build. Clearing fifteen abandoned programs off an old laptop is one job here rather than fifteen.

After each removal it runs what IObit calls a Powerful Scan, hunting for the folders, stray files and registry keys the program did not clean up. Nothing is deleted until you have seen the list and had a chance to untick anything you recognise.

The registry is the settings database Windows keeps for every program you install. Entries left pointing at software that no longer exists are the usual reason an uninstalled app keeps turning up in right-click menus, in file associations or in the startup list.

What the Free Build Includes

IObit sells a Pro edition and advertises it inside the free one, so the fair question is what the free build actually leaves out.

Nothing in the free build is time-limited and it does not lapse into a trial. Pro is a paid yearly upgrade rather than a one-off purchase, and the advertised discount is permanent enough that the list price is not a number anyone pays.

Read that table against the alternatives and the split is genuinely odd. IObit gives away the batch uninstall that Revo Uninstaller Free reserves for its paid edition, then charges for the automatic leftover cleanup Revo hands over for nothing.

Removing a Program Completely

The sequence below is the whole job, and the third step is the one people skip.

• Open IObit Uninstaller and let the program list finish loading, which takes a few seconds on a full machine.
• Tick everything you want gone. Sorting by Size or by Installed Date is the quickest way to find the things you forgot you had.
• Click Uninstall, and leave the leftover checkbox ticked in the dialog that follows - that is the step that separates this from the Windows Apps list.
• Work through any installers that ask you to confirm. Each program still runs its own uninstaller, so a batch of ten means ten prompts unless they run silently.
• Read the leftover list when the scan finishes, untick anything sitting under a folder you still use, and confirm.

Windows Apps, Bloatware and Browser Extensions

Three side panels do most of the remaining work. The Windows Apps panel lists the Microsoft Store apps and the preinstalled ones that Windows either hides or makes awkward to remove, and it will take several of them at once.

The browser extensions panel reads Chrome, Firefox and Edge and shows what is installed in each, which is more useful than it sounds - extensions arrive with other software and nobody audits them. Removing one here is the same as removing it in the browser, just in one place.

The software updater lists what has fallen behind, though the free build stops at telling you. If bulk removal of the apps Windows ships with is the actual goal, Win11Debloat and CrapFixer are built for that single job and will go further.

Who Should Look Elsewhere

Here is the tell, and you can check it in thirty seconds without installing anything. Open Settings, then Apps, then Installed apps, and find the program you want rid of.

If it is listed there with a working Uninstall button, and you do not care about a few dozen megabytes of orphaned folders, Windows already does the job and you do not need this. If the Uninstall button is missing, greyed out or fails with an error, the free build will not force it out either - that is the Pro feature, and Revo Uninstaller Pro is the other paid tool that does it.

A second tell: if Settings, then System, then About shows your device managed by an organisation, your employer's policy outranks any uninstaller you install. Nothing in this category will remove software an administrator pushed to the machine.

For everything adjacent, the site carries narrower tools than a general uninstaller.
