Excellent and a very complete codec pack. I recommend it.
I loved the old version, with the new version I can't see the subtitles. Hate it. Put the old version available to download.
Great pack, the latest version helped me playing some files on Windows XP.
It would be nice to have file association with media files.
I install this pack of codecs and now I have sound during playing DVD with Media player 11. Good codecs. Thanks a lot, nice job.
Fixed my wmp11 problem when it would only play sound on a avi file. Thank you!
Hi i see you managed to get this codec to work with WMP 11. Ive got this (Windows Media Player cannot play, burn, rip, or sync the file because a required audio codec is not installed on your computer.) ERROR message when trying to play songs on WMP 11 have installed XP Codec Pack but still get the above error.
Could you tell me how you got the WMP 11 working with this Codec please.

Bitcontrol wanted $15 to register. I uninstalled their codec and installed this one - great stuff it worked first time. Thank you.
If you had used to play pirate vcopy of copy-protected disc there is absolute no codec/player that will play the disc correctly. Use Alcohol 120% or DVDFAB to make good copy of your original disc.......
Have the haters read the description for this codec?
It's clearly marked as an AUDIO codec that will play some video... or at least that's all I've used it for.
In that regard; I've used this codec for more than 5 years with No Problems at all. In fact I use the (included) Gabest Media Player Classic for all my PC audio/video needs, and have since deleted my other media players!
Excellent product.
Highly Recommended.
I try to play DVDs now and get copy protection errors. Did not solve my problem
Install DVD43.

OK, it does what it's intended to do quite well and appears to be stable, too. However, it's pretty limited where playback of video/audio formats are concerned. If you want a greater range of codecs that covers everything bar the kitchen sink, then install one of the K-Lite Codec Packs instead. Unlike the XP Codec Pack, K-Lite is regularly updated, too.
About two weeks ago, my CPU got the 'XP Home Security' virus...to make a VERY LONG story short, my work files (after soooo many hours of creating new user profile, downloading antivirus software, and almost losing my mind) which need Windows Media Player, would sound like chipmunks gone amuk!!!
I had racked my brain trying to 'fix' this problem. Thank goodness I found this Codec Pack/site! After downloading and installing the XP Codec Pack, I now can use my WAV pedal again and my work files sound fine...NO MORE CHIPMUNKS :)
I worked for hours to get sound and even bought Roxio thinking that it would have what was needed to get audio to play with the video - but nothing worked until I downloaded the XP Codec Pack. Thank you
it doesn't support new mkv format. i wonder why they stop updating this great codecpack.
please update this because i think it's the most efficient.
I use this product to play MKV files daily with no probs.

I have some video files that I haven't been able to play with audio in WMP, DivX or Quicktime and have downloaded numerous codecs all to no avail.
I found this codec pack today, downloaded it and opened the file in the Media Player Classic and it worked perfectly! Thank you very much !
I have a problem with .m2ts files. i was able to play them with vlc, wmp and wmc. But with all those players i only had sound. So i downloaded the k-lite codec pack but that didn't work. Still couldn't see the video of the .m2ts files.
Than i read all the positive reviews of the XP codec pack so i thought this codec pack has to work. So i installed it, rebooted and nothing changed. I still only have sound when playing these .m2ts files.
On my laptop i have windows 7 and there it all works perfectly because the codecs are integrated in the OS, but i need to fix it on a pc with windows XP. Can anyone help me?
It is most likely your player doesn\'t has the Codecs. I would use GOM Player.

This is the best codec pack I ever met.
and it has the fully functional Media player classic. I only miss the option to speed up or down the subs for latency compensation (or I didn't found the option). Anyways it's a very good program, with simple design with no fancy design like the other modern crap.
And the best of all it's a freeware with no annoying autoinstall browser toolbars or homepage changers.
Many thanks XP codec team!
Thanks to you guys, it really works and it fixes my problem with my media player. GOD BLESS all of you!!!

OMG...this works like a dream. I tried many packages but this fixed it all in 10 minutes...this is awesome.
True to very single positive review here in this list, this codec pack works like a charm. It has a very light footprint in the system and has no compatibility issues. As best practice, in general, when installing codecs, make sure there are no other third party codecs present. Ensure every trace is removed including the registry and resident files in the temp folder. If you already have another media player such as Winamp, Windows Media player 11, etc and you want to continue using the same player, make sure you uncheck the options to install the Media Player Classic during the installation. This is present in the list of decoders and filters shown during installation.
Thank you team for a clean, light weight, hassle free utility. After using almost all of the encoder packs available, this, by far is the most lean, clean and mean utility there is on the internet.
Cheers!!
