The thing with the dual audio problem is that it did not present itself prior to the problems with the video decoder. Before, I could easily switch between the english and japanese audio.
Another interesting point of this problem was that after really tweaking media player classic I was able to get it to play only one audio track, it would only play the japanese audio. Yet the English was the default track.

Suddenly I wonder if I was a victim of the 3vix mp4 codec stack overflow vulnerability.

@Greg:
All I can say is that if I had ffdshow video decoder enabled at all with version 3.6.2, it would eventually freeze up my pc.
The interesting part, I guess, is it would happen a couple of seconds after I press stop on media player classic.
I tried a clean uninstall and reinstall, and went to configure and just clicked "reset to recommended settings" and that seemed to fix the problem. Although since I had done very little to cause the problem in the first place, and undoing everything I thought I had tweaked did not seem to help, it's iffy why this worked.
I just installed 3.6.5, I'll see how things turn out.
I also had a problem with the audio decoder, though it wasn't debilitating. I had some anime .avi files with dual english/japanese audio. Suddenly after going from 3.5.4 to 3.6.2, playing these movies would bring up two instances of ffdshow audio, along with two instances of the winamp dsp plugin I was using (DFX), and played both audio streams simultaneously.
Opening the decoder and setting directshow to allow only one instance of ffdshow audio didn't help.
Then .flv files would have no sound.
I eventually just went back to 3.5.4

Washed out colors can usually be solved by changing the video renderer in your player.
Sometimes it can also help to reset the Overlay control and/or color correction settings in your graphics card control panel. Wrong settings there can screw up colors.

Report your problem in more detail, then maybe the ffdshow people can fix it.

NEED HELP PLEASE GUYS
Have had K lite for several months now and absolutely love it...but the other day I was cleaning out crap of the hard disk and I must have deleted something that K lite relies on to run properly.
I have avi's saved that used to display perfectly on my monitor however now they appear grey and washed out...like there is a grey filter over the movie. It is driving me up the wall, I unistalled and reinstalled K lite, but the problem is still there?
Any ideas? Your help is most appreciated.

I believe something is wrong with this software.
If I enable the same tweaks with the ffdshow video decoder that I was using with version 3.5.4, it freezes up my computer as soon as I stop playing the video. I have to manually restart the computer. It's doing something bad.
Windows XP Pro
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+
512 mb RAM
