well to add to my last comment yes media player decided not to work (normally use real player)

Before installing a codec pack or even a single codec make sure all previous ones are removed, Its just like updating anything else. I have windows 2000, I've installed this pack on 4 different machines, including win98 and it works perfectly along with windows media player classic.
I was getting my video while playing avi files in my divix or winamp but after installing the codec pack all in 1.6.0.2.3. Now my audio is coming but my video is gone for all the files like avi, wmv etc. what should I do. How do I uninstall the code all pack ? and resinstall I have windows 2000 professional in my laptop
any help is really appreicated

In the end of the installation "Windows File System Protection" pops up a message box saying that a file has been overwritten by an unknown version. I am using Windows XP SP2.
No audio anymore not in media player or other, error on directsound.
Anyone Knows how to fix this?
can't you people see what codecs are installed?
Why use A codec pacK ?
I hate pacK's . ! .
Why not install every codec you need, if you need (or think to need) ? and stop using pack's !
This world is fuul of nuts, and pack's ... no matter how small, also got nuts in it .
P.S.: that's My opinion :-) and you don't have to belive It!

Problem is that this codec pack installs a chekz language version of DINPUT.DLL (and possibly others???). Screwed my gameing saying unable to get devices list from USER32.DLL. Possibly installed a WinXP version on my Win2K OS... Fixed it by deleting DINPUT.DLL and reinstalling DirectX 9c

Worked like a charm and no added spyware.
I love this codec pack and have been with it for a long time now..
But, something went wrong with my codecs and only works right after I install the codec pack.
Eventually, the codecs get corrupted and i have to reinstall.
The setup should overwrite the codecs rather than skipping already existing files.
This pack is very useful for me. I use WinXP SP2 and have no bugs, Windows Media Player v10 works perfectly.

In the end of the installation "Windows File System Protection" pops up a message box saying that a file has been overwritten by an unknown version. I am using Windows XP SP2.
And after that the windows Media Player crashes and never again works, and i can´t restore it, te only way i find is using other player (winamp) , but i want and need my Media player working again!!!
The svcd codec shows the wrong time (around 1/5th of it), besides that it's good. that's with 6.0.2.0 and wmp 9.0 sp2

You have to uninstall the old version first and then restart your computer.
If that is not the problem it's maybe a unknown version for xp.
Good luck
