What It Is Good At
Screen space, mostly. A monitor shows a full comic page, a technical diagram or a two-column textbook at a size an e-reader cannot manage.
Everything syncs through your Amazon account. Notes, highlights, bookmarks and the furthest page read all move between devices, so you can stop reading on the train and carry on at your desk.
The reading view is adjustable in the ways that matter: font, size, spacing, margins, background colour and a dark mode that makes evening reading tolerable.
Notes and highlights can be exported, which makes it a genuinely useful tool for studying rather than just a convenience.
What It Is Not For
This is a reader for your Amazon library, not a general ebook program.
It will not open the EPUB you downloaded from somewhere else, it does not manage a collection of files on your drive, and it is not a converter. Those are three different jobs and it does none of them.
If that is what you came for, Calibre handles library management and format conversion, and a browser-based EPUB viewer opens a single file in seconds with nothing to install.
Books stay inside the app, too. Kindle titles are tied to your account, so treat this as a place to read rather than a source of files you can move around.
Comics and Manga on a Big Screen
This is the strongest reason to have it installed alongside an e-reader.
Comics that feel cramped on e-ink open at full size on a monitor, with colour, and panel detail you simply cannot see on a six-inch grey screen.

Before You Install
It is a 284 MB download, which is large for a reading app and worth knowing before you start on a slow connection.
You need a Windows PC and an Amazon account. Signing in pulls your whole library down as a list, and books download individually when you open them rather than all at once.
Take the installer from Amazon or from the link on this page rather than a search result you do not recognise. Reading apps are a common target for lookalike downloads.
Who Should Look Elsewhere
If your books are not from Amazon, this app has nothing to show you. Calibre is the answer for a mixed library.
If you want to read a single CBZ or PDF you already have, you do not need an account-based reader. Comic archives are zipped images that many image viewers open directly, and a PDF is better served by Adobe Acrobat Reader.
The tell that this is the right download: your books are already on Amazon, and you want them on a bigger screen.
